2 Nepali guards killed, 1 hurt in Kabul attack
KATHMANDU: Two Nepali nationals were among five people killed on Tuesday by a suicide bomber in Kabul, the Afghan Capital. One more Nepali was seriously injured in the incident. The attack occurred at around 6am when the suicide bomber wearing Afghan Intelligence Agency uniform managed to sneak inside US Army’s Gibson camp in Kasala in the Afghan Capital with explosives and set it off, according to Kabul-based Nepali journalist Subel Bhandari. The deceased Nepali has been identified as Ganga Limbu of Pathari-3, Morang who was working as a camp security guard. He had died on the spot. Another security guard, Anil Gurung of Chabahil died at Bagram Hospital. Megh Gurung, the third Nepali guard who was seriously hurt, is receiving care at the same hospital. Two Indians, one Kenyan, one Fijian are also said to be among the dead, but Afghan authorities have yet to confirm. (PR)
CIAA wants health officials suspended
KATHMANDU: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority has directed the Ministry of Health and Population to suspend 10 Department of Health Services officials who were found to have produced fake bills for projects that had not been implemented. On Tuesday, the CIAA instructed the ministry to suspend the officials at the Primary Health Care-Revitalisation Division, including its former Director Dr Anand Shrestha.
