Three dead in accident

BIRATNAGAR: Three people have lost their lives in two separate road accidents on Monday evening. According to police, Dharmendra Mukhiya and Ranjit Nuniya of after their motorcycle bearing number plate Ko 18 Pa 2670 hit a culvert

in Sorabhag. Likewise, a cyclist died when a motorcycle bearing Indian number plate WBP 74 P 754 hit him near Bayarban in Prithivi Highway. Police said deceased is yet to be identified. (PR)

15,000 ltr illegal liquor seized

MAHOTTARI: Police seized 15,000 litres of bootleg liquor after raiding five roadside eateries on Tuesday. Police had raided five eateries selling alcohol in Bhangahasitapur and one in Singiyahi-6 in the district. During the raid, police also confiscated utensils used to produce the liquor and 350 kilograms of saccharin used in the process. The seized liquor was destroyed in the presence of locals. (PR)

Chicks destroyed

BHARATPUR: The animal quarantine check-post at Aanptari has culled 2,500 chicks being smuggled into the Nepali territory from India on Tuesday. The chicks were found inside 40 cartoons bearing the address of Gagan Poultry, Bharatpur-9 in Chitwan, as the recipient. They were found in an unattended state. (PR)

Convict arrested after two years

MAHOTTARI: Police have arrested a convicted murderer at large since the past two years on Monday night from Kupondole in Kathmandu. Acting on a tip-off, Mahottari police had requested the Metropolitan Police Range to arrest Bisheshwor Prasad Yadav of Sundarpur-1 who had been taking refuge at the Capital following his conviction. Yadav had abducted Sanjay Sah of the same locality on April 13, 2012 and later shot him dead near the no man’s land on April 21. According to police, they will further investigate into the matter.

Two families clash, one dead

KAPILVASTU: Members of two families clashed at Shivaraj Municipality-5 on Monday night, killing a man and injuring three others. Seriously injured 55-year-old Chaudhary Gaddhi died while being treated at Bhairahawa-based Medical College on Tuesday, police said. The clash flared after Radheshyam Kurmi and Ramkishun Kurmi teased Gaddhi’s sister-in-law, according to police. Radheshyam and Ramkishun are said to have attacked Gaddhi with logs. Gaddhi’s two sons Nur Mohammad and Yar Mohammad, and wife Khutbun Nisha are also being treated at

the hospital.

Conman caught

Hetauda: Police have arrested a youth for duping innocent villagers by selling them fake gold, on Tuesday. Indra Bahadur Syangtan, 25, of Padampokhari, Hetauda-12 was on the run with the money he made selling fake gold. Police had intercepted Syangtan at Hetauda Buspark. Police also arrested Tirtha Lal Rumba and Hira Bishwokarma for being members of the con group, as per Syangtan’s confessions. (PR)
