UN Assembly to show Jagadishpur Lake doc
Jul 29, 2014-
A documentary on the man-made Jagadishpur Lake is set to be shown during the inaugural day of the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly in the UN Headquarters, New York, on September 17.
The documentary captivates the beautiful scenery of the Ramsar site, along with the socio-economic conditions and the cultural identities of locals. The three-minute documentary, produced by Andrew Hein of the UNDP headquarters, will be watched by state chiefs of 193 countries including the President of United States Barack Obama.
According to the producer, the video showcases the lives of locals and how they are conversing biodiversity and making a living through the commercial use of the lake. The lake was chosen to be filmed after the Alliance for Integrated Development (AID) bagged the prestigious Equator Prize around two months ago. The AID is a coalition of women-led community wetland user groups who are managing the internationally recognised Ramsar site.
