PM Koirala ‘almost bed-ridden’

Aug 7, 2014-

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala is suffering from mild fever and coughs, his personal physician Prof Dr Karbir Nath Yogi said in a health bulletin on Thursday. After being diagnosed with lung cancer, Koirala had visited New York-based Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where he had five sessions of radiotherapy before returning home on July 22.

A team of specialists have since performed CT-Scan of his lungs times, which returned “very satisfactory results,” the statement reads, adding  that the mild fever and coughing may be the side-effects of radiotherapy. But a minister told the Post that PM is almost bed-ridden and looks very weak and some times he could not attend Cabinet meetings.

After discovering suspicious spots in his lungs, the PM had left for the US on June 17. Koirala, who earlier had tongue cancer, visits the same facility in New York for treatment at regular intervals.
