Aug 9, 2014-
District Education Office (DEO) Kathmandu has imposed penalty on private schools for not getting their fee structure approved from the concerned government authority. Issuing a public notice on Friday, the DEO asked over three dozen schools to pay a fine up to Rs 20,000. The schools running primary level teaching will have to pay Rs 5,000 while the lower-secondary schools have been asked to pay Rs 10,000. Secondary schools have been asked to submit Rs 15,000, while the fine of the higher secondary schools has been set at Rs 20,000. The Education Regulations 2002 makes it mandatory for all the schools to submit their fee structure at the DEO three months before the starting of the academic session for approval. “All the schools are directed to submit the fine within a week,” reads the DEO’s notice.
