Union calls off Kantipur agitation
Aug 31, 2014-
The CPN-Maoist-affiliated trade union, which had been obstructing the distribution of The Kathmandu Post and Kantipur dailies for 11 days, has withdrawn its protests.
The All Nepal Revolutionary Communication, Printing and Publication Worker’s Union said it decided to call off the ongoing obstruction in view of the inconvenience caused to the readers and the management’s request to seek a peaceful solution.
“We hope the management will take our demands positively,” union coordinator Ram Deep Acharya said in a statement on Sunday.
The decision came after the Kantipur Publications urged agitating union members to return to work and resolve the crisis through talks. The distribution of the two dailies in Pokhara has normalised since Friday as a result of an understanding between two sides.
