Police starts drive to curb theft cases

Police have made special preparations to curb the growing number of theft cases in the Valley as the festival season nears. The Metropolitan Police Crime Investigation Division has formed a team to work closely with each police circle and units to respond quickly at the time of burglary.

According to the Division, these police in civvies will be vital in the investigation

process. The Division, which began the campaign on August 25, has already arrested 145 people and recovered stolen items worth Rs 1.5 million. The police wing stated that 107 of the arrested people have been freed while the remaining ones are under investigation.

Senior Superintendent of Police Pushkar Karki said a majority of the theft cases have been reported during 10am to 6pm when many people leave their house for work.
