Deepjyoti rout Gandhi Adarsha

KATHMANDU: Deepjyoti Vidhyashram of Banke, Nandi Secondary School of Kathmandu and Janajyoti HS School of Rautahat won their respective matches of the Coca Cola Cup Inter-school National Football Tournament on Friday. Deepjyoti hammered Gandhi Adarsha of Kathmandu 7-0. Nandi cruised past Apex School of Rupandehi 3-0 and Janajyoti routed Sainik Awasiya Mahavidh-yalaya of Bhaktapur 8-0. The match between Buddha HS School of Morang and Gurukul of Kathmandu ended in a 2-2 draw. (PR)

Pathsala Cup begins Saturday

LALITPUR: The third Pathsala Cup Mini Boys Basketball Tournament is slated to begin here from Saturday. In all, 16 teams are participating in the league-cum-knockout tournament to be held at the organisers’ basketball court in Bagdol. Top two teams from each group will enter the quarter-finals. The final is scheduled for September 13. (PR)

Nepal Blue  thump Maldives

KATHMANDU: Nepal continued their winning run against Maldives in a Friendly Women’s Volleyball Series as the hosts’ Blue Team defeated Maldives in straight sets at the NSC covered hall on Friday. Nepal ‘Blue’ hammered the visitors 25-11, 25-12, 25-19 for the second match in two days. Nepal ‘Red’ had defeated the visitors also in straight sets on Thursday. Nepal ‘Red’ will take on their ‘Blue’ team on Saturday. The series will conclude on Sunday with a match between Nepal Red and the touring team. (PR)

Odyssey, Baba enter semi-finals

KATHMANDU: Odyssey International Academy, Golden Peak and hosts Baba Boarding School ‘A’ advanced to the semi-finals of the Baba 3x3 Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Friday.  Odyssey overcame Swatisadan 12-8 and defeated Baba ‘B’ 11-8 in the junior boys’ category. Baba ‘A’ edged Odyssey 9-7 while Golden Peak saw off Euro School 21-10 and Teresa Academy 8-5.  In the senior boys, Lord Buddha ‘A’ beat Baba ‘B’ 8-5 and NIMS dispatched Teresa 18-10. (PR)

Trinity, Morgan triumph

KATHMANDU: Trinity and Morgan International College won their respective matches of the first Brooklyn Cup Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Friday. Trinity defeated hosts Brooklyn 43-39. In another match Morgan overcame the challenge of Opal 41-25. (PR)
