Sep 10, 2014-
Dealers of electronic appliances have been launching discount schemes right and left with an eye on the shopping spree that accompanies the festival season. Domestic dealers of electronic brands such as LG, Samsung, Sony, Godrej and Hisense have projected a 25-30 percent growth in sales for the period September-November.
The promotional schemes they have rolled out include cash discounts, free trips around the world and gifts like home theatres, DVD players and various home appliances.
“Offering discounts and schemes helps to boost sales during the festival season,” said Binil Bajracharya, general manager of Nepa Hima Trade Link, authorised distributor of Sony Electronics in Nepal. The company is planning to launch various schemes and new products for customers.
The company has lined up 12 new models of televisions and smartphones for unveiling this season. “We will launch a new range of 4K televisions and Z3 series of smartphones with various schemes this week,” he said. Nepa Hima has targeted increasing sales by 25 percent during this festive season.
CG Electronics, the authorised distributor of LG in Nepal, has introduced its LG RED Festive Offers on the occasion of the festive season. Under this plan, customers will get a free LG home theatre DH-4130S, Logitech wireless keyboard with touch pad, 500 GB external hard disk, microwave oven, dinner set, iron or cooking kit on purchase of its electronic items.
Similarly, Godrej’s authorised distributor in Nepal offers cash discounts of up to Rs 5,000 and a trip to Bangkok to its customers through a lucky draw.
“Customers wait two-three months for the festive season to buy various home appliances with the hope of getting something as a gift,” said Ramesh Shrestha, general manager of CG Electronics. “So, we have to conduct a promotional campaign by investing a large amount of money.”
The company has rolled out a wide range of televisions, refrigerators and home theatres and has projected a 15-20 percent growth in sales.
Ashish Tibrewala, director of Navin Distributors, the authorised distributor of Hisense television in Nepal, said that as all companies want to increase sales during the festive season, they offer new products and schemes to lure customers.
The company’s new launches for the festive season include Ultra HD, curved and LED televisions. It has aimed at a growth of 30 percent during this festive season.
