Vehicle service to resume shortly along landslide obstructed road

The ongoing works to open a track along the three kilometres section of Araniko Highway, which was damaged in August 2 landslide at Mankha VDC in Sindhupalchok district, have reached the final stage. Dasharath Yadav, the engineer at the District Road Division Office (RDO), said vehicles can traverse along the track in a few days. He added that they drove a truck across the track on Saturday to see if was ready for vehicles to travel on.

Bishnu Bahadur Khatri, chairman of the Road Construction Committee, said the RDO and local business community had stepped forward to resume transport facility along the blocked section of the highway that links Nepal to China’s border market town of Khasa.

Meanwhile, landslides at Kothe section of the Araniko Highway on Friday night obstructed the traffic movement throughout Saturday. Hundreds of passengers were stranded as a result.
