PM inaugurates science musuem

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala unveiled a newly-constructed building of the BP Koirala National Science Museum located on the premises of Tribhuvan University in Kirtipur on the occasion of National Science Day on Wednesday.
With the establishment of the museum, the government aims to promote science and technology for overall economic development of the country in the coming years.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Koirala said with the promulgation of new constitution, the country would make significant progress in the sector of science and technology and contribute towards overall economic development.
Similarly, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment awarded certificates and cash prizes to 16 students from community and private schools who scored highest marks in science in School Leaving Certificate examinations this year. Two teachers, including one from the private schools, were also awarded with ‘Best Science Teacher Award’ at the programme.
The National Science Day, marked on the first day of the Nepali month of Asoj, this year was celebrated with the slogan of ‘Science, Technology and Innovation for sustainable development’ and was particularly focused on creating awareness among students, guardians, teachers and other stakeholders
on the importance of science and technology in 14 districts of the Central and Far-Western regions.
