Gaun Gaun ma Singha Durbar launched
Sep 19, 2014-
The US Mission in Nepal on Friday launched a new 52-episode radio drama series called “Gaun Gaun ma Singha Durbar.”
The series, funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), will be developed by Search for Common Ground and broadcast in all 75 districts using local FM stations to increase public awareness on how government works at local and national levels, demonstrate how government and citizen can collaborate, and illustrate multiple leadership styles for development and social initiatives, said a statement issued by the US Embassy.
The week-long show will be aired between 6 to 8pm starting Saturday through popular radio stations such as Radio Sagarmatha in Kathmandu, Dinesh FM in Kailali, Synergy FM in Chitwan and Baglung FM in Baglung.
Speaking at the launch today, US Ambassador Peter W Bodde said, “This programme aims not just to entertain but to help citizens across Nepal understand the role and function of the government.”
The radio drama, part of the USAID’s two-year $1 million media programme for good governance, will later be followed by a TV series. Producers hope the series will foster constructive interaction between citizens and the government.
