FM meets HIS Chinese, Qatari counterparts

Minister for Foreign Affairs Mahendra Bahadur Pandey on Sunday held a meeting with Wang Yi, foreign minister of People’s Republic of China, on the sidelines of the 69th UN General Assembly being held in New York.

According to Nepal’s Permanent Mission to UN, the two ministers exchanged views on multiple dimensions of bilateral relations between Nepal and China in political, economic and cultural spheres.  Pandey thanked the Government of China for continued cooperation in the socio-economic and infrastructure development of Nepal. “As the next year marks the 60th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China, both ministers agreed to utilise this opportunity to take Nepal-China relations to a new height,” said the statement.

Minister Pandey also held a meeting with Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, minister for foreign affairs of the State of Qatar. Bilateral matters of mutual interests, exchange of high level visits, encouraging investment from Qatar to Nepal and the welfare Nepalese workers, among others, were discussed in the meeting.

Ambassador/Permanent Representative of Nepal to the UN and the mission’s officials also briefed the foreign minister about the mission’s activities.

On Saturday , Khagendra Chhetri, president of Non-Resident Nepali National Coordination Council of USA and other office bearers of the organisation, met with  Minister Pandey. They handed over a letter to the him which highlights the issues of the NRN community.
