UCPN (M) picks deputy PP leader, whip, board secy

The UCPN (Maoist) on Thursday appointed Top Bahadur Rayamajhi as the deputy parliamentary party  (PP) leader. Rayamajhi is close to senior leader Baburam Bhattarai, who was initially offered the position by party Chairman and PP leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

After Bhattarai turned down Dahal’s offer, the party picked Rayamajhi for the post. Rayamajhi’s appointment is a part of internal power sharing between Dahal and Bhattarai.

A meeting of parliamentary party also appointed Rekha Sharma as the party ‘s whip and Agni Prasad Sapokta as the board secretary. These posts were lying vacant for a long period due to the tussle between top leaders of the party. Earlier, Giriraj Mani Pokhrel was appointed the chief whip of the party.

Newly elected Board Secretary of the party Sapkota said that the board meeting has demanded the government to provide proper relief package to the victims of landslides and floods. The party has also urged the government to make arrangement for free treatment to the victims of recent bus accident in Doti as well as compensation to the families of those killed in the incident.
