NEF, IPAR sign co-operation MoU
Oct 13, 2014-
Nepal Economic Forum (NEF) and the Institute for Policy Analysis and Research (IPAR), Rwanda, signed a co-operation memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Kigali on Monday to build a knowledge platform to learn from economic development issues in South Asia and Africa.
The agreement also aims at providing strategic advice for developing the economic policy research network for IPAR, and jointly working in areas of research publication and information dissemination, an NEF press release stated.
IPAR is the premier thinktank in Rwanda working on cross cutting issues and NEF is a Nepal-based thinktank working on economic and development issues. NEF was recently selected as a grantee by the Think Tank Fund of Open Society Foundation, a George Soros Foundation initiative. NEF Chairman Sujeev Shakya said this is a historical moment and heralds new era in building networks across institutions in South Asia and Africa. He emphasised this co-operation will help increase research, publication and dissemination in Rwanda with the strategic support from NEF.
Eugenia Kayitesi, executive director of IPAR, expressed gratitude towards this partnership which will address capacity gaps in the areas of economic research, publication and dissemination as well creating a strong network for benchmarking between the two think tanks.
