PM against protests until statute is out
Nov 2, 2014-
Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has appealed to all stakeholders to say no to any kind of agitation until new constitution is promulgated. PM Koirala said so after receiving a four-point memorandum from the National Christians Federation at his residence in Baluwatar on Sunday. The demands include incorporating secularism as an unchangeable article in the new constitution; arrangement of cemeteries for the Christians in all 75 districts, including the Capital.
CB Gahatraj, the federation’s general secretary, underscored the need for the earliest implementation of the three-point agreement reached between the federation and the then government on May 1, 2011.
“We have no choice but to stage a nation-wide agitation if the earlier pact and the demands mentioned in the memo are not addressed within a week,” Gahatraj warned.
