Chand boycotts CPN-M extended central meeting
Nov 22, 2014-
The CPN-Maoist has deferred its extended Central Committee (CC) meeting that was scheduled to begin on Saturday after the faction led by party Secretary Netra Bikram Chand boycotted the meeting, citing lack of preparation.
CPN-Maoist Spokesperson Pampha Bhusal said in a statement on Saturday that the meeting was deferred till 11 am Sunday following the reservations from some “responsible comrades”.
Sources said the Chand faction is reluctant to attend the meeting after the establishment rejected its demands for voting rights to alternative CC members and for calling a special general convention of the party.
Last week, Chand had demanded party Chairman Mohan Baidya and General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa to apologise for accusing him of taking the party towards a split. Baidya and Thapa had jointly demanded the Chand panel to furnish a clarification for boycotting the party’s politburo and CC meetings and for organising a factional gathering in Kapilvastu two weeks ago, defying the directive issued by the party leadership.
