Indian criminal killed, 3 others held with weapons

An Indian national was shot dead while three others were detained with weapons in a police action at Bishnupura-5 in Rupandehi district on Saturday. Police claimed that the deceased and arrested trio were “the most wanted” individuals involved in various criminal activities in the area since long.
Sarfaroj Khan, 28, of Maharajganj district in India was killed while Hafiullaha Musalman and Akil Musalman of Kapilvastu and Akhilesh Yadav of Rupandehi were captured in the police action, said police.
“Acting on a tip-off, a police team in civvies was deployed in the area. The security personnel were compelled to fire in retaliation as the armed group opened fire at the police,” said Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajendra Dhakal. He said the motorcycle-borne assailants opened fired as the security personnel tried to take them under control.
Police seized three pistols, 15 bullets and two motorcycles with Indian registration number from the group. SP Dhakal said that Sarfaroj was involved in an abduction and subsequent murder of Aakash Gurung of Kailashpath in Bhairahawa. Similarly, police said that Akil had looted Rs 500,000 from a petrol pump at Pakadichauraha in Kapilvastu district by brandishing a weapon few months ago.
“These criminals were in the most wanted list of the police,” added SP Dhakal.
