Valley Public ‘A’ enter semi-finals

KATHMANDU: Hosts Valley Public ‘A’ defeated Angel Heart 20-10 to enter the girls semi-finals of the ninth Valley Public Cup Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Saturday. In other quarter-finals, Trungram International Academy defeated Prithvi 32-21 and HHCA beat Mt Kailash 42-37. Sainik Awasiya Mahavid- hyalaya Innovative, Bhadrakali and HHCA reached boys semis. TIA sail into last girls 3x3 quarters

KATHMANDU: Trungram International Academy (TIA) and Valley Public ‘A’ and ‘B’ entered the girls’ 3x3 quarter-finals of the 11th TIA Cup Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Saturday. TIA edged Saipal 10-5, Valley Public ‘A’ pipped Kathmandu valley 5-4 and their ‘B’ team defeated NCCS 10-4. Also, HHCA sidelined NIMS 10-6 to reach last 8. (PR)

NSC coaching course begins

LALITPUR: Basic Level Coaching Course, a level I course, organised by Nepal Sports Science Academy under the National Sports Council (NSC) began in Satdobato on Saturday. The course will provide basic training in cricket, football and table tennis on Saturdays for 30 weeks. In all 200 trainee coaches — 111 in football, 78 in cricket and 11 in table tennis — will attend the course. (PR)  

Highly Creative crowned champs

KATHMANDU: Highly Creative English School were crowned the champions of the Feca Cup Seven-a-Side Girls’ Football Tournament on Saturday. A solitary goal from Bindu Gupta helped Highly Creative oust Sikshyalaya Nepal 1-0. Manohara English School finished third beating Gateway Academy 1-0 with Sabina Dahal scoring the lone goal for her team. (PR)  

Two peat for Greenfield, Neric

KATHMANDU: Hosts Greenfield National School and Neric Academy won their senior and junior boys’ matches of the sixth Greenfield Inter-school Boys’ Basketball Tournament on Saturday. Greenfield nailed Maha- manjushree 32-20 in the senior boys’ and Neric beat International Peace Academy 39-15. In junior boys, Greenfield ‘A’ edged Karina 33-29. (PR)  

Awale, Rana win Malpi City race

KATHMANDU: Sarbesh Rana and Bishakha Awale won the third Malpi City Road Race here on Saturday. Rana completed the 5km race in 18:37 and Awale won her third consecutive title clocking 24 minutes. In all 96 runners participated in the event organized by Malpi City. (PR)  

St. Xavier’s make winning start

LALITPUR: Host St. Xavier’s Godavari made winning start in the 19th Father Moran Memorial Inter-school Boys’ Football on Saturday. Michael Ghale, Sparsha Dotel, Firoz Maharjan and Ashutosh Ghimire scored a brace each as the hosts drubbed Chelsea International School 9-0. Also, LRI trounced Maya Universe Academy of Tanahun 7-0 and Crescent defeated Daffodil School2-0. (PR)
