Conflict-hit teachers to be reinstated
Nov 26, 2014-
The government has started preparations reinstate teachers and school staffers who were compelled to quit their job during the decade-long Maoist insurgency. The Bill to amend the Education Act, which is set to be tabled in Cabinet soon, has a provision to reinstate education staffers who were forced to resign because of unfavourable political situation. Teachers associations claim some 2,000 teachers and school staffers were forced to quit their job during the insurgency. The government last year called applications from those who wished to be reinstated but the process was halted due to legal hurdles. The teachers, however, will not be paid for the period between resignation and reinstatement.
