Gothatar claim Feca Cup

KATHMANDU: Gothatar English School were crowned the champions of the ninth Feca Cup Inter-school Boys’ Football Tournament on Saturday. A goal each from Anish Shrestha and Rajesh Tripathi helped Gothatar end the challenge of Career Building International Academy 2-0 in the title decider and walked away with Rs 8,000.  Public School hammered Pritima English School 7-0 in the third place match. SXJ defeat SXG 2-1 in title match

KATHMANDU: St Xavier’s, Jawalakhel (SXJ) won the title of the 19th Fr Moran Memorial Inter-school Boys’ Football Tournament with a 2-1 victory over hosts St Xavier’s, Godavari (SXG) on Saturday. After a 1-1 draw in normal time, Ashutosh Karki scored the decider for SXJ. Sandeep Budhathoki of SXJ was adjudged the best player of the tournament and Michael Ghale of SXG was named the highest scorer. (PR)

Nakarmi wins veterans TT

KATHMANDU: Hira Nakarmi won the women’s above-40 years gold in the National Open Veterans Table Tennis Tournament on Saturday. Nakarmi edged Akiko Simiju 9-11, 12-10, 11-9 in the final. Rajendra Bajracharya took the men’s title in the age group with a 5-11, 11-9, 13-11, 11-6 victory over Kapur Sharma. Panna Kaji Shakya toiled to beat Manohari Thapa 11-4, 10-12, 11-6, 12-10, 11-3 in men’s above 50 years singles and Udhay Mohan Shrestha won the above 55 years gold. (PR)

New Lira crowned champions

KATHMANDU: New Lira, who grabbed nine gold, eight silver and six bronze medals were crowned the team champions of the Open Valley-wide Karate Tournament on Saturday. With three gold, a silver and two bronze medals under their belt, Bhaktapur Main Dojo came second followed by National Children in the third, who won two gold, four silver and 12 bronze medals. A total of 127 karatekas had vied for 15 gold medals in the two-day tournament.  (PR)

Shrestha, Sijapati win marathon

KATHMANDU: Santoshi Shrestha and Binod Sijapati won the NMC mini-marathon on Saturday. Likewise, Prerana Chaulagain and Akash Khetan prevailed in the college category of the mini race organised by Nepal College of Management (NCM) in association with Leo Club of Bagmati to raise awareness on gender based violence. The race began from Hanuman Dhoka and passed through Ratnapark, Bagbazar, Thapathali, Pulchowk before culminating at NMC at Dhobighat.  (PR)

Khatri, Shrestha defeated

KATHMANDU: Phupu Lhyamu Khatri and Indra Bahadur Shrestha lost their matches in the 15th Asian Junior and 18th Cadet Judo Champi-onship in Hong Kong on Saturday. Khatri lost the women’s 63kg bout against Nurmetova of Uzbekistan. Shrestha, competing in men’s 60kg was no match for Kistan of Uzbekistan. (PR)
