Baidya discharged from hospital

CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya (Kiran) was discharged from hospital on Saturday as his condition improved following treatment. A long-time Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patient, Baidya was rushed to Norvic International Hospital on December 20, with high fever, cough, breathing difficulty and decreased oxygen saturation.

According to the hospital, he was found to have acute exacerbation of COPD with infection in lower respiratory tract and treated accordingly with antibiotics, supplemental oxygen and other supportive measures. “He has responded well to the treatment. Now, his breathing is normal and fever has subsided,” the hospital said in a statement.

The Maoist leader is advised to visit for a follow-up check after two weeks by the physician involved in his treatment, said Dr Brajendra Shrivastava, a Senior Consultant Pulmonologist at the hospital.
