42 recommended for 16 secy posts

The Promotion Committee headed by Public Service Commission Chairperson Kayo Devi Yami on Sunday recommended the names of senior joint secretaries for promotion to 16 vacant posts of secretary. According to the Civil Service Act, the number of recommended candidates should be thrice as many as the number of vacant posts.

The candidates for the promotion to the posts of secretary should have worked for five years in the posts of joint secretary. According to sources, of the 16 vacant positions, three postings will be made automatically from most senior joint secretaries: Suresh Acharya, Gajendra Thakur and Sharad Bista. For the remaining posts, the promotion committee has recommended 39 senior joint secretaries eligible for the promotion.

The Cabinet takes the final call after considering seniority and meritocracy. The recommended 39 joint secretaries are Sunil Bahadur Malla, Kamal Shali Ghimire, Ram Kumar Acharya, Laxman Mainali, Rajan Khanal, Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, Nabaraj Bhandari, Tek Prasad Dhungana and Sri Dhar Sapkota. Similarly, Chandra Ghimire, Bodh Raj Niraula, Ishowari Poudel, Tanka Mani Sharma, Prem Kumar Rai, Sashi Shekhar Shrestha, Jaydev Shrestha, Bimal Prasad Dhakal, Khumraj Punjali, Rajendra Prasad Nepal, Dinesh Thapaliya, Shanker Koirala, Ramesh Kumar Sharma, Annapurna Das and Bijaya Kumar Mallik are also recommended for the vacant posts.

The other recommended officials are Yadav Ghimire, Bir Bahadur Chand, Krishna Giri, Lekhnath Poudel, Sri Kanta Poudel, Khagraj Poudel, Kiran Poudel, Bipul Neupane, Nahakul Subedi, Mahesh Sharma Poudel, Janardan Nepal, Natibabu Lamichhanne, Bhupendra Poudel and Jhamak Prasad Sharma.
