KMC to pursue tax defaulters
Jan 11, 2015-
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) set to re-launch its campaign against tax defaulters starting next week. The metropolis has blacklisted hundreds of business entities that have defied numerous requests to pay taxes.
According to Mahesh Kumar Kafle, chief of the KMC’s Revenue Department, they plan to continue their campaign bringing more entities under their tax net. “We are making correspondence with them to clear their taxes as soon as possible,” Kafle said. “If not, they will be relieved of metropolis services.”
Last year, the KMC initiated a drive against tax defaulters, which doubled their revenue collection. In the campaign, the KMC charged private entities like commercial buildings, hotels and other businesses.
