Mahat inaugurates road project

Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat on Friday launched the construction of the Betrawati-Mailung-Syafrubeshi road. The government has allocated Rs 27 million for track opening, which is likely to be completed within this fiscal year. Nepal Army undertaking the track opening job.

The new track will shorten the distance between Syafrubeshi and Dhunchhe through Betrawati to 32km from existing 50km.

“The road construction has started as per your (the locals’) will,” Mahat said inaugurating the project. “The opening of this new road will help boost economic activity.”

He said as the country has already embarked on a development journey, the lifestyle of the general Nepali will change drastically within the next few years.

Mahat also urged the locals to not obstruct the development of infrastructure projects, including hydropower projects. “The government is open to listen to the locals and solve their problems. The locals should not obstruct development activities. This will only hurt you and your development.”

Mahat urged the army to continue the momentum and execute the task on time.
