Bank security guard found murdered

- POST REPORT, Udayapur

Feb 3, 2015-

A security guard at the branch office of Sunrise Bank in Triyuga-11, Udayapur, was found dead inside the bank’s restroom on Tuesday morning.

Police said somebody had slit the throat of 51-year-old Khem Bahadur Baniya who was on the bank’s security duty since Monday evening.

Police suspect that Baniya may have been murdered by people trying to rob the bank. The assailants had apparently entered the bank through the main gate and broke the door to the room where cash and valuables were kept, police said.

The bank staff, however, said though the vault was breached, all the cash and valuables were intact.

Bipat Chaudhary, the bank manager, had found Baniya’s body when he reached the bank after some of the clients called him to inform that the ATM booth was not open until late morning.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Jayaraj Sapkota said they were investigating the case. He added that a sniffer dog will be used to track the assailants.
