Ruprekha founder passes away

Sriram Dev Bhattarai, a prominent figure in Nepali literature and one of the founders of Nepali literary monthly magazine Ruprekha, died on Sunday. He was 79. He was undergoing treatment for heart ailments at Norvic International Hospital.
Bhattarai is also the father of well-known storyteller Amod Dev Bhattarai.
Bhattarai had established the National Public Library in Kathmandu on September 14, 1952, which was closed 15 years later owing to dearth of resources. The establishment of the library helped uplift Nepali literature and education.
Bhattrai, who has written and published numerous book reviews, articles and technical letters, also worked as an officer at Department of Industry for three decades. He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
