40 tonnes garbage collected

Around 40 metric tons of garbage was collected from areas surrounding Bayodha Hospital at Balkhu on Saturday, under the Bagmati River Clean-up Campaign. With this, the 100-week campaign has reached to 94th week.

The Campaign was launched from May 18, 2013. Chief Secretary Leelamani Poudyal is leading the campaign. The campaign initiated from Bagdwar and will conclude after reaching Chobhar.

On the occasion, Chairman of the High Powered Committee for Integrated Development of the Bagmati Civilization, Narayan Prasad Regmi, expressed belief that all would now provide continuous support to make the rivers clean.

Similarly, Chief at the Environment Management Division, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Rabin Man Shrestha, said that the campaign has raised awareness among people not to make the rivers polluted and added that stern action would be taken against those throwing garbage into the rivers.
