‘Learn from Israeli farm practices’

Israeli Ambassador to Nepal Yaron Mayor has asked the Nepali entrepreneurs to learn from Israeli high-tech agricultural practices.
Speaking at an interaction here on Sunday, Mayor said Israel achieved a great height in agricultural development through the implementation of advanced technology-based farming, particularly in the irrigation system.
Stressing on the need for carrying out exchange programmes of the commercial delegates, he urged Nepali entrepreneurs to participate in Agri-tech Israel - 2015, an exhibition to be held from April 28-30 in Tel Aviv. The expo will showcase production, skill and technologies related to agro business that are being used in Israel, according to Mayor.
Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) President Rajesh Kaji Shrestha urged Israeli entrepreneurs to invest in Nepal’s the agriculture sector which is still dependent on traditional practices. Nepali investors are willing to work in collaboration with Israeli entrepreneurs for the promotion of the agro business.
“Nepal’s organic farm products are in high demand in countries like China, India and Hong Kong,” he said.
The expo is also said to be hosting a conference on technology related to preventing leakages during post-harvesting of the food products. Organised every three years for the last three decades, the exhibition incorporates an average of 7,000 agro-tech companies from 115 countries.
