Sharma drops out of race for CA By-poll

- POST REPORT, Kathmandu

Mar 14, 2015-

UCPN (Maoist) leader Dina Nath Sharma has withdrawn his candidacy for the Constituent Assembly by-election in Baglung constituency-1, citing poor health.

Sharma, who is also the party’s spokesperson, informed the party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal about his decision over the phone on Saturday. He also urged Dahal to field an alternative after his inability to contest the poll set to take place on April 11.

Sharma’s health reportedly deteriorated while he was on the way to Baglung to prepare for the upcoming CA by-election. He has been admitted to a private-hospital in Pokhara for treatment.

The Election Commission is holding the by-election as NC lawmaker Hari Bahadur Khadka, who was elected from the constituency, died in a road accident in December last year.
