Banepa stun Army 3-1

KATARI: Banepa Boys Club stunned Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) 3-1 in tie-breaker after goalless draw to enter the semi-finals of first Katari Gold Cup football tournament on Tuesday. Banepa custodian Babu Magar was the star performer letting just one goal in the tie-breaker. Suraj Singh Lama, Nigerian player Victor and Sajan Pradhan converted for Banepa. Banepa will now take on Morang XI on Thursday. Jhapa XI play Jagriti Club of Sunsari in the first semi-final on Wednesday. (PR)


Bajracharya makes good start

KATHMANDU: Samrak-shyak Bhusan Bajracharya made a winning start to the Division 1  ITF U-14 Asian Development Tennis Championship in Bangkok on Tuesday. Bajracharya defeated Siritavonarchan of Thailand 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. Bajracharya has a chance competing in the Asia Pacific Championships—to be held in Melbourne later in the year—if finishes in top four in the tournament. In the women’s category, Anne Mathema of Nepal went down 6-1, 6-1 against Puninkova Kevutred. (PR)
