My Daily Bread With Buddhi Sagar

No matter how late I sleep, my eyes spring wide open at 6 in the morning. I always begin my day with several glasses of lukewarm water as a healthy kickstart.


Time for some sattu (gram flour)! It’s often said that people need to “breakfast like a king,” well, sattu is my royal breakfast (chuckles).


My wife is a great cook who prepares me delicious Nepali thalis for lunch. I can’t do without karela, alu tama, and the super hot akbhare chillies. I even pack my own chillies while travelling.


I am a brand new dad to my brand new daughter, of course! I’m having a great time learning to be a father. My wife tends to her needs, and I just get to play with her—that’s the best part.


My afternoons are set aside for meetings with fellow writers, publishers and other literature folks. I brainstorm with them for new ideas and concepts.


Café Jamal is my go-to place for super delicious momos, in case I give into my cravings. I also recently gave up on my 9 to 5 job, so regular café visits with my friends keeps my mind engaged.


Next stop—home sweet home. I catch up with my daughter; hanging out with her is always fun. Sipping on green tea, in company of my daughter, I slowly slip into my “author” frame of mind.


Post dinner is my time to catch up on my reading and writing. Deep in the silent night is when I get my best ideas. I am currently working on my latest book, Firfiri.
