Nepse ends week 3.06 pts down

Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) last week dropped 3.06 points to close at 967.62 points.

The market, which opened at 970.68 points on Monday, lost 11.54 points on Tuesday, before recovering in the following days.

Anjan Raj Paudel, managing director of Thrive Brokerage House, said the market has remained stable. “During the third quarter, usually, no major fluctuations occur,” he said.

Paudel  said almost all companies have announced dividends, and investors are in a wait-and-see mode before the third-quart reports.

Of the six trading groups, three posted gains. Insurance companies (up 16.93 points) was the biggest gainer, followed by hydropower companies and hotels. Development banks’ group (down 8.51 points) was the biggest loser, followed by finance companies and banking.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chips fell 1.04 points to close at 205.75 points.

The overall market transaction also fell 18.82 percent to Rs 852.36 million. The number of shares traded decreased to 2,173,198 from 2,811,070 units over the week.
