Dahal leaves for China on weeklong visit

Mar 23, 2015-

UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal left for China on Monday on a weeklong visit at the invitation of the Communist Party of China.

During his stay there, the opposition leader will meet senior Chinese leaders. He is said to hold discussions on bilateral relations, and the ongoing peace and constitution drafting process in Nepal.

Talking to media persons before flying to China, Dahal said it is up to the political parties in Nepal to end the deadlock in the constitution drafting process. He, however, said the goodwill and support of the neighbouring India and China is essential in the process. Dahal is accompanied by party General Secretary Krishna Bahadur Mahara.

“We will inform Chinese leaders about the latest political situation here. If their suggestions are positive, we’ll take them,” he said. Dahal added that discussions would focus on building party-to-party relations. The Maoist leaders will not be meeting with the Chinese president and government officials.
