Apr 6, 2015-
The final rites of CPN-UML politburo member Ram Nath Dhakal were performed at the Pashupati Aryaghat in the Capital on Monday.
Dhakal, the former head of the Parliamentary State Affairs Committee, had passed away on Sunday while undergoing treatment for multiple diseases, including Tuberculosis and swine flu. His body was kept at the UML headquarters in Balkhu before being brought to the Aryaghat for final rites. Hundreds of leaders and well-wishers, including party’s Chairman KP Sharma Oli, paid their last tribute to Dhakal. A large number of leaders from Nepali Congress, UCPN (Maoist) and Rastriya Prajatanra Party-Nepal, among others, were present at the UML party headquarters to pay tribute to the UML leader. Meanwhile, an emergency meeting of the UML Standing Committee has decided to keep the party’s flag half-mast in all party offices across the country, not to organise any formal programmes for three days and hold gatherings to offer condolences to the late leader on April 17. The party has expressed deep grief over Dhakal’s demise and extended condolences to the bereaved family.
Dhakal, 52, was admitted to Grande International Hospital on March 27.
