Ensure people’s access to info, says Baskota

KATHMANDU: Chief Information Commissioner Krishna Hari Baskota has urged all the authorities concerned to ensure people’s access to information. Launching the RTI AID monthly magazine in Kathmandu on Friday, Baskota said people’s right to information is an indicator of democracy around the world. He said the country still has a culture to hide information and that the government is planning to raise awareness on the matter by including lessons on the issues in school-level textbooks. Representatives of National Dalit Commission also highlighted the importance of right to information in the programme. The magazine focuses on people’s access to information. (PR)

Man held with smuggled silver

BARA: An Armed Police Force (APF) team deployed at the border checkpoint has arrested Raju Yadav of Batara-6 in possession of 10 kilograms of smuggled silver. Superintendent of Police Bhesh Bahadur Thapa said that Yadav was held with the smuggled silver from Khekhariya checkpoint on Thursday evening. Yadav was arrested while he was on his way to Nepal with the smuggled silver on his motorcycle.  (PR)
