PM Jakarta-bound today

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala is leaving for Indonesia on Monday to attend the Asian-African Summit on April 22-23 in Jakarta.
He will also join a commemorative event to be organised on April 24 in Bandung on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the 1955 Asian-African Conference and the 10th anniversary of the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership.
The theme of both the events is “Strengthening South-South Cooperation to promote World Peace and Prosperity”. According to the Foreign Ministry, Koirala will deliver his address on this theme.
While in Jakarta and Bandung, Koirala is expected to hold bilateral meetings with the leaders from neighbouring countries, Saarc and Asean regions.
On April 22, Koirala will attend a dinner hosted by the Indonesian president for the visiting heads of state and government. He will participate in the Historical Walk from Savoy Homan Hotel to Gedung Merdeka in Bandung.
Officiating Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi and Foreign Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey have already reached Jakarta for Senior Officials’ Meeting and Ministerial Meeting, respectively.
Other members of the Nepali delegation include Dinesh Bhattarai, foreign affairs adviser to the PM; Durga Prasad Bhattarai, Permanent Representative of Nepal to the UN in New York; Tara Prasad Pokharel, joint-secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Chief of Protocol Arjun Kant Mainali.
