A man was rescued from the debris of a landslide 98 hours after the Great Earthquake in Nuwakot district on Wednesday.
The man identified as Shiva Shrestha, 37, a resident of Trishuli Bazaar in Bidur Municipality-11, was buried in the landslide triggered by the deadly quake on Saturday. He was on his way to celebrate a picnic on the weekend day along with his 13 friends.
Eleven people were buried when a massive landslide swept them when the group of 14 people were heading to the Mailung confluence for picnic.
An Indian search-and-rescue team reached the site based on information provided by one Sitaram BK. The 10 others are still missing.
Shrestha has sustained several injuries in his head and body. Shrestha said he survived by drinking the muddy water under the debris. “I got a new lease of life,” said Shrestha, who was pulled out from the debris after four days and three hours.
