Jajarkot epidemic ‘under control’

JAJARKOT: The District Public Health Office (DPHO) has said that the swine flu epidemic in Jajarkot that claimed the lives of 27 people in the past one month has finally come under control. Dhir Jung Shah, chief of Jajarkot DPHO, said that the health workers who came to Jajarkot from various other places following the outbreak of the disease have returned after the authorities managed to clamp down on the disease. Thirty health camps that were set up in several affected villages in the district provided treatment to 12,600 people who had contracted the deadly flu. (PR)

15 injured in bus accident

GORKHA: Fifteen people were injured when a crowded passenger bus met with an accident at Gorkha Municipality-7 in the district on Tuesday. Three of the injured are reportedly in critical condition. The Gorkha Bazaar-bound bus skidded off the road at Aahale and fell some 250 metres below. The injured are receiving treatment at the district hospital. (PR)

Police post attacked

SARLAHI: A group of some 60 local people barged into a police post in Sangrampur and hurled stones at the security personnel on Tuesday. Sub-Inspector Raj Kumar Mahato and head constable Dashain Mahato sustained serious head injuries in the attack. The enraged locals resorted to vandalism as police on Monday closed down liquor shops in the area after 8 pm. The injured cops were taken to Chitwan for treatment. (PR)
