Nembang urges Dahal for statute
May 10, 2015-
Constituent Assembly Chairman Subas Nembang on Sunday asked the UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to initiate the process of completing the remaining tasks of constitution.
In a meeting with Dahal, Nembang said along with handling the national crisis triggered by earthquake, parties should conclude the constitution drafting process as soon as possible. Dahal reportedly told Nembang that he is committed to completing the task of statute drafting. Cross-party leaders are engaged in informal negotiations on constitution drafting process as well.
According to Nembang, after the endorsement of common resolution motion, parties need to focus on constitution drafting process. According to him, after the motion was endorsed on Tuesday, the Parliament session will be closed and parties will focus on constitution drafting process.
After closing the winter session, government will also make preparations for the budget session. “The promulgation of new constitution would be of big relief to people. So, there is no reason to delay the statute drafting process,” Nembang said. Nepali Congress Joint General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka said they are holding discussions with parties at various levels to settle the disputed issues of new constitution. Parties are also holding informal discussions on the formation of a national unity government but there has not been substantial progress on the matter.
