‘Provide Rs 500k each to displaced families’
May 11, 2015-
UCPN (Maoist) leader Baburam Bhattarai has urged the government to provide at least Rs 500,000 each to the families displaced by the earthquake on April 25 so that they can rebuild houses.
The government should also provide at least Rs 25,000 each to the displaced families for building temporary shelters, Bhattarai said, after inspecting the damage caused by the earthquake in Dolakha district on Monday. Bhattarai said the relief amount announced by the government was inadequate. He also reiterated the need of forming a national rehabilitation authority to undertake relief and reconstruction programmes.
The local civil society leaders and representatives of various political parties demanded that the government should include Dolakha in the worst earthquake-hit region. They claimed that the quake damaged about 95 percent houses in the district.
