16 dead in separate road accidents

At least 16 people died while 60 others were injured, some critically, in two separate road accidents in Makwanpur and Dadeldhura districts on Monday.
A Narayangadh-bound passenger bus (Na 5 Kha 3696) overturned at Manahari-3 along the East-West Highway in Makwanpur while overtaking another bus, killing nine persons and injuring 25 others, said police. The crash turned nastier as a hurtling truck coming from opposite direction hit the overturned bus.
Inspector Mohan Adhikari at Area Police Office in Manahari said six persons died on the spot while three others succumbed to their injuries during treatment in Chitwan. Yokha Gurung, 50, of Chitwan, Aslam Miya, 30, of Champaran in India and Misal Gurung, 26, of Nawalparasi have been identified dead in the incident. The identity of six others is yet to be ascertained. The injured are receiving treatment at various health institutions in Chitwan.
Similarly, in Dadeldhura, seven persons died and 35 others sustained injuries when a bus swerved off the road and fell 150 metres below at Gankhet VDC-8. Identities of the deceased passengers have not been ascertained yet,
