May 18, 2015-
People living in 35 houses in Prapcha ward No 8 and 9 have been already displaced and few others are planning to move elsewhere from the landslide-prone settlement.
People of Harkapur, Moli, Tarkerabari, including 12 other VDCs are going to be displaced by the landslides in the district. Several cracks, have appeared in many houses in quake-affected areas.
However, Bishnu Prasad Pokharel of Prapcha-9 is still living in his house that is under threat of being swept away by the landslide.
“My family got very panicked due to the landslide that occurred just above our house”, said Pokharel, adding that his house could be swept away by landslide any time.
Another local, Tolhari Pokharel, says that if they continue to stay in the village their lives could be at serious risk.
A total of 23 households belonging to Magar community in Prapcha-3 are also reeling under similar problem. Prapcha suffered more than any other areas in the district due to the devastating quake on April 25 and subsequent aftershocks.
Meanwhile, a team of lawmakers including Gokul Gharti, Sanjaya Kumar Gautam and Gopal Dahit have inspected the landslide-affected areas in the district on Sunday.
During their visit, locals requested that the government provide proper rehabilitation to them. In response, the lawmakers said that they will personally take up their requests to the concerned authorities.
Likewise, Chief District Officer Ganesh Prasad Bhattarai said that they will take initiative to relocate people from the affected areas.
