NC, UML volunteers to help quake-hit families

The office bearers’ meeting of NC on Wednesday endorsed a policy on mobilising party workers for relief and rehabilitation works without delay. NC has decided to mobilise a team of 25 members in every quake-hit village to volunteer in relief distribution and victim rehabilitation.
Similarly, the standing committee meeting of UML designated responsibility to the top leaders to monitor the works of party leaders and cadres in the quake-hit areas. The meeting also instructed the UML’s second-rung leaders to take the lead in relief distribution and rebuilding.
Yogesh Bhattarai, the chief of UML Publicity and Publication Department, said top leaders, including Chairman KP Sharma Oli, have been assigned the task of monitoring the works carried out by the party cadres in the disaster-hit areas.
Oli will monitor the works in Kathmandu, senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal in Bhaktapur and Madhav Kumar Nepal in Sindhupalchok.
UML is organising an orientation programme for its leaders and cadres on Thursday to brief them about their assignments.
