Relief teams provide roofing
May 20, 2015-
Social organisations involved in relief works in Kavre have started distributing corrugated zinc sheets to the earthquake victims in the area. According to the organisations, they decided to opt for these sheets because they are more durable than tents and tarpaulins.
Sunny Sagarmatha Samajh, Sunnyville and California, and the Nepali Association of Northern California have collaborated to provide 81 households in Nayagau, Devpur, with corrugates sheets along with other aid. The materials were collected with the support of Nepal Janajati Mahasangh, California.
Also, Samudaik Uthaan Manch Nepal (SIF), Volunteer Society Nepal, Nareso Chandeswari Upasakha and Dapcha Upasakha have together provided corrugated sheets and one blanket each to 136 households in ward 5 and 6 of Shyampati VDC.
According to Samundalal Shrestha, chairman of SIF Nepal, corrugated sheets would be more effective as roofing materials, especially when the rainy season is just around the corner.
