Nepse down on low demand
May 25, 2015-
Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) dropped 29.29 points on Monday amid low demand.
The market closed at 880.53 on the second trading day after the April 25 earthquake. The exchange had remained closed for almost a month after the temblor.
Satish Kumar Shrestha, managing director of Siprabi Securities, said an increase in selling pressure, especially in insurance and micro finance groups, pulled the market down.
Except for the trading group, sub-indices of almost all other groups lost points. Hydropower (down 140.11 points) and insurance (down 41.88 points) were the biggest losers. The banking group fell 37.83 points.
Despite fall in the benchmark index, the market turnover, however, increased to Rs 136.36 million. Sunday turnover was Rs 115.36 million.
Shrestha said attributed the rise in the turnover to increased investor attraction towards particular commercial banks.
