Jun 1, 2015-

A group of young volunteers from Mechi, belonging to different political parties, are setting up temporary shelters for the victims in Shikhar Aambote of Kavre district.

The group, led by Bishwo Prakash Sharma of the Nepali Congress, started the relief campaign by depositing Rs 700,000 to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.

They have contributed relief supplies such as tarpaulin sheets, mats, and rations to the quake victims of the most-affected districts like Sindhupalchok, Kavre, Gorkha, and Dolakha.

The team consists of volunteers from Jhapa, Mahottari, Sunsari, Dhanusa, and Gulmi.

“Calamities don’t care about castes, religion or political parties. Our volunteers belong to different castes and ethnic groups and profess different religions and ideologies. We are all working together to provide relief to the quake victims,” said Sharma.

“All the political parties should work together to provide relief to the victims without any competition and prejudices,” he added.
