Actor turns relief worker after being rescued
Jun 6, 2015-
Having been trapped in Kodari for a week after the Great Earthquake, before being rescued by a Nepal Army helicopter, film actor Sobhita Simkhada is now busy distributing relief, providing free meals and organising meditation programmes for locals at her home village, Gumdi, in Dhading district.
Immediately after being rescued on May 1, Simkhada took 150 quintals foodstuff, clothes and tarpaulins from Kathmandu to Gumdi VDC. She has further ordered 200 bundles of galvanised corrugated sheets for distribution in the village. Her father, Dipak Simkhada’s, meditation centre Osho Benuban Commune has provided financial support for her mission.
Benuban is also sheltering local earthquake victims in its one dozen guest houses alongside conducting spiritual sessions of religious hymns for relieving stress. “All the villagers gather at the commune, bring food from their houses, cook and eat together and meditate,” said Simkhada.
