Pokhara experiences hottest day in 3 yrs

The temperature of Pokhara reached 34 degree Celsius on Saturday, the highest in three years.

The daily life in Pokhara been affected due to continuous rise in temperature in the recent days. Shanti Rana of Kaski said it has been difficult for people to venture outside because of intense heat. Pokhara had recorded its maximum temperature at 37.4 degrees Celsius in 1975, 1992 and 1999.

Anil Kumar Shah, an official at the Meteorological Forecasting Station in Pokhara attributed the temperature rise to lack of rainfall. Meanwhile, health officials in Pokhara said that people are falling ill due to hot weather.

Meanwhile, the temperature in Bhairahawa reached 43.3 and 42.5 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday respectively. In Kapilvastu, the temperature is increasing by the day. Meteorologist Ramu Regmi of Ramnagar said temperature in the district reached 43 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

Life in Bardiya has also been affected due to rise in temperature. The daytime temperature in the district has been hovering 41 to 43 degrees Celsius mark for the past couple of days. As a result of hot weather, many people in the district have been taken ill. The district health officials said  there are several patients admitted in hospitals suffering from headache, diarrhoea and fever.
