2 persons succumb to ‘heat stroke’ in Saptari

Two persons died at Shambhunath Municipality and Bakdhuwa VDC in Saptari district on Monday and police suspect they might have succumbed to heat stroke.
Samjha Devi Sardar, 64, who had collapsed in her house, died as she was being taken to hospital while Lekhman BK, 45, had died inside a Dharan-bound bus.
As mercury continues to soar across the country, life in Tarai districts, including Banke Bardiya, Kailali and Kanchanpur, has been hardly hit.
The temperature in Nepalgunj, the district headquarters of Banke, exceeded 44 degrees Celsius while in Dhangadhi, the district headquarters of Kailali, the temperature reached 42.3 degrees Celsius on Monday.
Health officials in several Tarai districts have said that the number of patients suffering from fever and diarrhoea has increased in the recent days.
